Anniversary, Seahawks, and The Olympics

Is it really February 10th already?

How in the world did that happen?

I think time is going at lightning speed and I may never ever catch up.

On January 19th, Kyle and I “celebrated” 12 years of wedded bliss.  You might know that that was also the same day that the Seahawks won the NFC West and their ticket to the Super Bowl.  In my hubby’s words, “This is THE BEST anniversary EVER!”  Yeah, I had nothing to do with that. The only thing I contributed to that day was a ton of food and the gift of matching Russell Wilson jersey-like t-shirts.  I’m sure that’s what helped the Seahawks win.  I mean, ME, the non-sports fan, bought and wore a Seahawks t-shirt.  They were kind of required to win!

Then, just 9 days later, my hubby turned 34.  Man he’s old! 😉

Pretty much all of January Kyle was sick and he’s still a bit stuffed up and coughing.  My MIL and I got this crud first, but I got over it within a week and my MIL in a couple of weeks.  I’m just glad that the pukes haven’t invaded our house like it has so many others!

Then…THEN…the Seahawks WON the SUPER BOWL!!  Yes, me the non-sports fan again, cheering!  It was pretty monumental!  What a crazy game!  And just a few days later, THOUSANDS, almost a MILLION – no joke – 12th man (ie. fans) CRAMMED themselves into Downtown Seattle to welcome the Seahawks home.  This was the very first football Championship Seattle has ever won.  The last championship win was in basketball (The Seattle Sonics) in 1979!  What a celebration it was for Seattle!  It’s hard not to get sucked in to all the excitement.  {Oh yeah, this was also my nephew’s 8th birthday!  Can you say Best Birthday EVER?!  Lucky Evan!}

And to prove that point, hubby told me that he needed to order a jersey.  I said that he really didn’t, but he said that they are CHAMPIONS and so he HAD to get a Super Bowl XLVIII Championship jerseys.  So, he didn’t have to really talk me into it, only because we’re getting a tax refund, so I told him that it was a requirement that I get one, too.  What has come over me?!

And, right as everyone is thinking “What next?”, The Olympics start!  I seriously LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Olympics!  Every night we’ve been plastered to the tv watching all of the different events.  Of course, the skating is my favorite.  But watching the snow boarding and skiing and fast track is fun, too.  Tonight we’re listening to Apolo Anton Ono commentate the fast track.  So sad not to see him on the ice, but at least he’s still there!

Are you watching The Olympics?  What’s your favorite part and/or favorite event?  Share your thoughts with me, I want to hear from you!

  1. I just love the parade of nations during the opening ceremony. All the smiles and pride on the faces of the Olympians just makes me teary-eyed. … and start thinking what sports I can pick-up in my 30s that could get me to the Olympics… Trampoline? Curling? My favorite winter Olympic sport is either moguls or luge.

    • LOL Seriously! I’m thinking cross-country skiing might be the easiest since you just have to stay standing and move forward. lol

      I agree with you, though, the opening ceremonies are great!

  2. By the way, thought you would find it interesting, I have been married for twelve years as well (a few months shy), been trying to conceive for ten years. We do have a daughter, whom we adopted when she was six (her dad/my cousin died when she was four, but it took that long to finalize the adoption, she lived with us in the interim). We are currently going to try IVF in June. Anyway, thought our similarities were kind of neat.

  3. Wow, crazy how similar our stories are. 🙂 Sorry to hear about your cousin but glad that you were able to find some happiness out of the sadness. Good luck with your IVF!!
