This is Brenda Strong, you know, the voice of Mary Alice Young on Desperate Housewives {one of my FAVORITE shows}?

Did you know that Brenda suffered from infertility?

Yeah, neither did I.

But she did and because of her struggles, she created a line of different yoga videos and products to help with infertility.

Brenda has combined yoga asana, visualization, meditation, pranayama, qi gong and bioenergetics to help support the reproductive organs and increase a woman’s connection to the “divine feminine” while decreasing stress.

When I was contacted and asked if I’d like to try this out, I thought “Sure, why not. I’ve got nothing to lose. I’ll take anything that could possibly help me on this journey.”

Let me just tell you that 1. I have not worked out in a LONG time. Which is sad since I was so into it not all that long ago and 2. I’ve never really done yoga. Nothing against it, just has never been my thang.

I got the DVD, though, and I popped it into the DVD player and got myself all situated on the floor with my mat. When Brenda first came on, she was sitting on a nice, cushy looking couch talking in a soft voice and telling me what I was going to be doing. I have to admit, it was a bit cheesy. I almost fast forwarded it, but thought I’d better at least listen to what she had to say since it might be beneficial. It was informative.

After a few minutes of her talking, she was suddenly in a luscious yard on a yoga mat starting all the different yoga poses. Because I’d never done it before, I had a hard time concentrating on being relaxed and also paying attention to what she was doing.

Another thing I have to admit. It was a bit too long for me. It’s about an hour long I think and I’m just not very good at sitting / laying still for that long. While I did eventually find it relaxing, I know I couldn’t do this every day.

While I don’t think this yoga stuff is going to get me pregnant, I’ll take all the help I can get. This was a fun and relaxing {after I got some of it down} way to enjoy some exercise and laugh at myself while doing so.

Guess what? I’m not the only one that gets to try this out. One of you does too. And even if you don’t think you want this, maybe there is someone in your life that you think would benefit from it. Everybody loves gifts, right? =)

  1. to relax, I usually sit on the couch and watch tv or read a magazine. if it’s not too hot outside (like it currently is in oklahoma) I sit in my backyard.

    this yoga dvd sounds interesting. i usually choose pilates over yoga, but I would like to try this one. thanks!

    To relax I like to walk the dogs, read, or play around on the internet. The beach is my favorite relaxation place though.

  14. I just wanted to say hello! My husband and I are also learning to deal with infertility as well. We’ve been trying for over two years, and trying to decide where we’ll go from here!

    How do I relax each day? I either get in our pool and just float around or I water or mess around in my flowerbeds.

  22. Sounds like a cool thing. I am an infertility survivor but I am no longer ‘in the game’. I’d DIE if we got the miracle pregnancy now! LOL! (I’m not entering because of that- just commenting) I’ve closed that door. Best wishes to all those still in the fight- if this video helps, all the better!

    Keep it up, it’s worth a try and the exercise can’t hurt in the long run.

  31. I am cracking up at your description, beccause I was totally the same way the first time I did a yoga video – just completely uncomfortable trying to figure the moves out and not being relaxed at all! I couldn’t figure out how all that lying around was a good workout too!
