Things To Do In Western Washington

Today is Day 2 of the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge with the SITS Girls. I decided that I’m not necessarily going to post Day 1, Day 2, etc because it won’t always be relevant, but I’ll post about the days that are. If you want more information on what this challenge is about, find out about it here.

Because I love this gorgeous state that I live in, I thought it’d be fun to give you a list of some of the entertaining things to do around the area, should you ever decide to visit me, which you should!!

Head on down to Seattle and go to Pike Place Market. Be sure to visit the Gum Wall while you’re there! It’s gross, but you HAVE to see it!! Of course, you can’t forget the Space Needle. That’s pretty much a must. Go to the very top, especially on a clear day, and you can see for miles and miles and miles!

Visit the Seattle Aquarium. See the ginormous octopus and the cute and adorable sea otters.

Visit the animals at the Woodland Park Zoo or go south to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

Take a day-trip up to the San Juan Islands. Go to Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, Orcas Island, Lopez Island. Just island hop. While you’re up there, you might even be lucky enough to see the whales, especially if you go on a whale watching tour!

If you’re here at the right time of the year, you can go to the Tulip Fields. The colors are AMAZING. You’ve never seen anything like it!

During the Fall, go around to the different corn mazes and get lost roaming around. Drink some hot cider to keep you warm.

Take one of the many ferries across the water and explore the little towns like Whidbey Island, Kingston or Bainbridge Island.

Go berry picking or to a strawberry or blueberry festival.

Take a trip up to Snoqulamie Falls. It is a sight to behold. Hike down to the water and jump around on the rocks and get the mist from the falls on your face. Perfect on a nice, hot day!

If you really enjoy the outdoors and love to be in nature, definitely go hiking in one of the bazillion different areas. Washington is definitely known for its mountains!!

There are so many enjoyable things to do in Washington that you’ll never be at a loss for adventure!

If you’re looking for some more kid friendly things to do in the area, this is a great article to look at as well.

  1. I’m visiting from the SITSgirls’ challenge…I love your list post. Great job!

I especially liked the pictures. Certainly makes me want to visit.

The San Juan Islands look stunning.

  2. Nice job. I live in the northwest too {Olympia} and didn’t know about all these things. Beautiful pictures you found too.

  3. Washington looks so beautiful! I was there only briefly when we left from Seattle on a cruise to Alaska. So bummed we didnt get to spend more time exploring there!

  4. I love the market!!
Awesome list. I’ll have to check those places out when I go down there.

  5. WOW! Now I know where I want to go on my next vacay!

  6. Great pics, Megan. I visited Washington State only once and it was a long time ago. I remember shopping at Pike Market, taking the ferry to Whidby Island and camping in one of the state parks. I also remember the beautiful flowers and some big candy factory where they make “jellied candies” (can’t remember the name of this confection-I’ve slept since then). What an absolutely beautiful state you live in. Would love to visit again soon. -EW

  7. oooh. Seattle has been on my list of must-go-to places for a few years now, and even more so now. maybe when we get up there i’ll get to like meet you and stuff ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I’m visiting from the SITS site, what a great post I love the fact that you made the list using visual rather than just words. Excellent.

  9. This post was great and the photos made it. My company has an event in the Tacoma area every year but I only saw Seattle at the airport! This year I went in a few days early and visited several of the places on your list. It is a beautiful state and you represented it well!

  10. Howdy fellow local blogger! Looks like great minds think alike here, don’t they. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love that you added photos to your post. I was having a hard time pulling mine together without worrying about copyrights. I need to better research that. ๐Ÿ™‚ You gave me even more ideas of things to do. THANKS!

  11. Beautiful pics of Washington. I had the pleasure of visiting Pike Place and the Space Needle several years ago. I hope to go back and visit again.

I just wanted to stop by and thank you for your kind comment on my blog http://my-own-inspiration.blogspot.com. Would have responded sooner but I was having laptop issues so I finally go it repaired. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there’s no more problems.

    Anyway, thanks again!

  12. Wow – Great job, Megan! You’ve made me want to convince Barry to pack up and take me and the girls on a road trip to almost the exact opposite (and farthest away) part of the country.

He would no doubt balk at the car ride, since a 5 hour trip just about did him in. ๐Ÿ˜‰

But maybe one day I can convince him!
